LIMA 205254 CLASS 43 HST INTERCITY 125 POWER CAR 43157 ‘HMS PENZANCE’ VIRGIN
Very nice and quite unusual Intercity 125 power car by Lima, depicting a Virgin Trains Class 43 in special ‘HMS Penzance’ livery. Features a special logo on front sides as well as Virgin emblem on rear sides.
43157 wore this special livery early into privatisation, and would have been seen all over the vast Virgin Cross Country network from the South West to the North East of Scotland, running with a combination of Virgin Mk3s and Intercity Swallow liveried coaches yet to be repainted.
Tested and in full working order - appears very lightly if at all used, having come from a large collection of rare and unusual Lima locomotives. Running in would be recommended if it is intended to be used regularly on a layout.
Cosmetically excellent - please note the yellow warning panel around the front cab window has a little factory overpaint as was quite common with `Lima paint standards of the time. The rest is superb. Please also note that the working headlights are very bright and so by design there is a fair amount of light bleed around the cab when operating. Applying some coating or paint to the inside of the bodyshell would help to eliminate this if a new owner finds it particularly bothersome. We have included an additional photo with the lights operating to illustrate the light leakage.
Comes in very good original box.
Will be carefully packaged up for dispatch via tracked service.
